What the 2023 Roofing Report Had to Say About Roof Coatings

We recently read the “2023 State of the Roofing Industry Report” in which they checked the pulse of the industry by asking commercial roofers and residential roofers throughout the US to take a survey.

The results when it came to roof coatings were fascinating. Some key takeaways were that:

For commercial sales, the remaining top five are coatings (66%), low-slope asphalt (64%) and steep-slope asphalt shingles (44%). Though overall sales remained in the single digits (8%) the number of commercial roofing contractors in the survey using coatings exceeded 60% – surpassing both low-slope and steep-slope asphalt for the first time in RC’s survey.

This already confirms what we believe to be true. Roof coatings are becoming an increasingly popular option because of previous benefits we have discussed and they will continue to be on the rise.

Coatings ranked 5th in terms of sales revenue out of 12 possible options for all the respondents. Metal ranked 1st due the likely high cost upfront and longevity, however, this is trending upward to show that roof coatings are continually climbing the charts.

Lastly, as compared to last year supply shortages and supply chain issues are much less of a factor when sourcing materials. The roof coatings we source are usually within a few states so we’re able to get products quickly to service clients.

Summary

It’s no surprise (certainly not to us) that roof coatings are increasingly climbing the ranks as a viable options for industrial and commercial roofs.

Being much lower in cost than replacement with a quicker turnaround time, less waste, less disruption, eco friendly, and money saving in solar reflectivity make it an excellent choice for most roofs.
